Founders’ Week Distinguished Lecture on Integral Ecology

Founders’ Week Distinguished Lecture on Integral Ecology

Tuesday, November 15, 2016
12:30 – 2:00 pm
Andreas 111
RSVP Required

TOPIC: Laudato Si' within our communities: What does "integral ecology" look like in practice?

CONTENT: Pope Francis's call to care for "our common home" in his 2015 encyclical, Laudato Si', has received global attention and has brought the Catholic Church into the center of public conversations about ecology and environmental responsibility. Dr. Peppard will lead the Barry community in a conversation about Laudato Si' and its implications in both global and local senses. What does the encyclical say about desired forms of human relationships? What does "integral ecology" mean for the Pope, and for us? What implications do these notions have for sustainability and daily life within and beyond the Barry community?

In addition to the Founders’ Week lecture, Dr. Peppard will also be meeting with Barry students to explore their view of leadership as it relates to environmental responsibility.  To nominate a student leader for this opportunity, click here.
