RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

The University's wide variety of available facilities provides students, faculty, administrators and staff with the resources for a program of sports, fitness, wellness and recreational activities. Please remember to present your Barry University ID card.

Recreation & Wellness Office
Everything you need to know about participating in the physical activity of your choice can be found in the CRW office.  Located in Landon 112, the office is the main hub for signing up to play in intramural sport leagues, adding on to a wellness class or activity, or simply checking out equipment for recreational play. Check out our fitness programs like the BUCwalking challenge, the Biggest Winner, and Wellness Day! By providing students, faculty and staff with a broad-based program of activities, a safe environment, and a chance to incorporate movement and recreation into one’s daily schedule, there is “something for everyone.”

Penafort Pool
Located in front of Weber and Adrian Halls, the pool is available for daily use by Barry University students, faculty, administrators and staff. All those who use the pool must abide by the rules and regulations posted at poolside. These include both State Board of Health and safety regulations. The pool closes at 10:00 pm nightly. No lifeguard on duty.

Health and Sports Center
The Health and Sports Center, opened in December 1990, houses a 1,500 seat arena, a modern strength and conditioning facility, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation and training area, a human performance laboratory and classrooms. The HSC building also houses the offices of the School of Human Performance and Leisure Sciences. All facilities are available for students, faculty, and staff use during designated hours.

Outdoor Racquet Sports Complex
Located alongside the Health and Sports Center, the fully lighted outdoor center is the home of our men's and women's tennis teams and is available for class instruction as well as recreational play. In South Florida, the year round weather is inviting, and racquet sports are designed for life long participation.

Miller Studio
Located in the Thompson Hall Building, it provides space for wellness and instructional use. Group exercise favorites like aerobics, Pilates, yoga, kick boxing, and others are excellent ways to meet new people and stay in shape. All are welcome to attend wellness classes, and students are encouraged to add them on as Instructional Sport & recreational (ISR) classes. Imagine: getting a great work out AND earning college credit! Please remember, all participants must present a current Barry I.D.

Landon Fitness Center
The Landon Student Union houses the Fitness Center. It provides an environment for individuals who want to concentrate on muscular development, flexibility training, power enhancement, endurance building, or even rehabilitative therapy.  We provide one-on-one personal training, quick and convenient circuit training classes for the time restricted student, and complementary equipment orientations and fitness evaluations. Barry ID required.
The Fitness Center features:
