Welcome to University Relations
The Office of University Relations is responsible for the active promotion of Barry University, including – but not limited to – its 10 academic schools, student affairs, alumni and development activities and the Office of the President.
It is a unit that began as a one-man operation in the 1970s, typing press releases and compiling a university-wide
news flyer. Today, the department oversees three specific areas: media relations, the Barry Magazine and internal communications (i.e. BUCWIS and Barry News). |
| Campus Communications |
| URE provides information to its internal audiences (i.e. students, faculty, staff, alumni) via emails and BUCWIS, the university’s award-winning online newsletter. Through BUCWIS and Barry News emails, the Barry community is kept aware of the latest news on campus via daily updates. |
| Publications |
University Relations publishes the Barry Magazine. Included in each issue are news, features and the Alumni Connection.
Distribution is to students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends of the university, and local, regional and national media outlets. |
| Media Relations |
| University Relations is the primary contact with regard to all internal and external media issues. University Relations’ goal of
increasing Barry’s name recognition and awareness of the university locally, regionally and nationally is achieved via news/press releases, keeping an accessible featured experts guide, public service announcements, media alerts, press conferences, interviews, immediate response to unsolicited incoming media calls and proper handling of crisis communications. |
