Nearly 80 percent of Barry Law graduates pass Florida Bar Exam on first attempt

Orlando, Fla. – An impressive 79.1 percent of graduates from the Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law taking the Florida Bar Exam for the first time have passed, according to a Sept. 17 report released by the Florida Board of Bar Examiners. The report is based on results from the July Bar Exam.
July’s first-time passage rate is the highest in Barry’s history, surpassing the 72 percent set in July 2006. In all, a total of 3,216 applicants from across the state took the Bar Exam in Tampa, with 1,593 passing and being approved to The Florida Bar by the Florida Supreme Court. Barry’s first-time passage rate was higher than some other law schools, including Florida A&M University (60 percent) and St. Thomas University (72.2 percent). Eighty-six Barry Law School students took the Bar Exam for the first time in July resulting in 68 earning a passing score.
Barry’s overall passage rate of 79.1 percent closely trailed that of Nova Southeastern University (81.9 percent) and the University of Miami (85.8 percent). The Florida Bar Exam is given in February and July each year.
