Barry University School of Social Work to host healthcare professionals for "Intensive Geriatric Training" on Friday, March 25Mar 23, 2011
Contact: Whitney Sessa (305) 899-4877 Miami Shores, Fla. - On Friday, March 25, Barry University’s School of Social Work, in collaboration with the University of Miami School of Medicine, the Miami Area Geriatric Education Center (MAGEC) and the Miami VA Medical Center, will host local healthcare professionals on Barry’s Miami Shores campus for the first of three “Intensive Geriatric Training” workshops focusing on clinical work with caregivers of elderly clients. Each Friday, for three consecutive weeks, the training, which will take place at Barry’s Powers Building (Room 132), will address a specific area of caregiving with elderly clients. The main topics to be featured include "Diversity Issues in Caregiving," "When Caregiving is the Problem," and "Shades of Gray: Managing Ethical Conflicts and Dilemmas in Work with Caregivers." Licensed healthcare professionals, including social workers, mental health counselors and family therapists, will receive 20.5 CEUs (Continuing Education Units) for attending.
