Barry University Charity Drive for Haiti collects food, clothing and more than $1,700
Miami Shores, Fla. - Thousands of victims of Hurricane Ike and several other deadly storms in Haiti, will receive hundreds of pounds of food, clothing, toiletries and linens as well as $1,700 from Barry University’s recent charity drive.
Barry’s students, faculty and staff helped load eight vans, 12 SUV’s, and eight cars full of items like bottled water, shoes blankets, shirts, diapers and many other essential necessities donated by South Florida residents.
All funds and supplies collected were delivered to St. James Catholic Parish which will ship the supplies through the Catholic Charities Mission Office.
The drive was a collaboration among several Barry departments including Campus Ministry, Alumni Relations, School of Education and several student groups including the Alpha Delta Gamma fraternity.
