Barry University health program ranked top ten in nation for physician-executive

Fifth consecutive year the Master of Science in Health Services Administration has been ranked at the national level
Miami Shores, Fla. - For the fifth consecutive year, Barry University’s Master of Science in Health Services Administration program has been ranked at the national level according to Modern Healthcare magazine. The program was ranked tenth in the nation out of business graduate schools for physician-executives.
As such, the program was ranked against universities with the same degree program, as well as other degrees for physician-executives such as Master of Public Health and Master of Medical Management degrees. There are more than 300 Master of Science in Health Services Administration programs in the country alone.
“The program empowers students in the critical evaluation of theoretical and research perspectives in all specialty areas of health administration and the practical application of these insights into their daily professional work,” said Dr. Alan Whiteman, director and associate dean of the program. “The quality of the educational experience is enhanced by a faculty holding appropriate academic credentials and extensive health care industry experience.”
Programs were ranked by five factors, including length of time to complete, cost of total tuition, number of days students spend on campus, age of the program in years and number of total graduates. Rankings were based on a list of programs awarding MBAs or similar degrees in courses that focus on physicians. Barry University’s degree program was ranked above many well-known names, including Yale School of Management, Duke and Harvard’s School of Public Health.
Barry University’s Master of Science in Health Services Administration degree is part of the university’s College of Health Sciences. There are currently 67 students enrolled in the program, with more than 450 total graduates since the program’s beginning 15 years ago.
