Barry University business students 'Make Strides against Breast Cancer'
Oct 15, 2009
10/15/09 Gladys Amador (305)899-4919 Miami Shores, Fla. - For eleven years, Barry University, Andreas School of Business students have come out to the annual American Cancer Society “Making Strides against Breast Cancer” 5K walk/run in downtown Miami on Oct. 3, 2009. “The students and faculty of Andreas are honored to have been associated with the American Cancer Society for the past eleven years, and this event particularly,” said finance professor Bruce Payne. “Sometimes students do things not because there is anything in it for them but simply because it is the right thing to do.” Thanks to their faculty advisor, Dr. Payne, business students have raised money for breast cancer research by participating in the 5k run/walk, selling hats and t-shirts and assisting runners and walkers by placing traffic cones, setting up displays and passing out water. “I used to be on the board of directors of the American Cancer Society in Louisiana, so when I came here in 1998 I wanted to get the ASB involved,” said Dr. Payne.
