On Saturday, Jan. 15, more than 100 students from Barry University will celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in Barry’s annual MLK Day Challenge and dedicating a day of service to a community cause. This year, volunteers will spend the day landscaping, cleaning and painting at two locations: Miami Northwestern Senior High School and Arcola Lakes Park.

Working media are invited to attend this event at both locations from 9 to 11 a.m.

The event, sponsored by Barry’s Office of Student Activities and De Porres Center for Community Service, will conclude with a reflection, where volunteers will express how they were able to grow in the spirit of Martin Luther King, Jr. and as people of good will through the service project.

For additional information about the MLK Day Challenge, contact Steffano Montano, coordinator for the De Porres for Community Service, at 305-899-3078.
