Barry University biology student receives award at Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.--Jodi-Ann Browning-Bent, biology major and Minority Biomedical Research Support - Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (MBRS RISE) student, received an award for her poster presentation at the national Annual Biomedical Research Conference for Minority Students (ABRCMS), held Nov. 9 through 11 in St. Louis, Mo.

Jodi conducted the research at the University of Wisconsin this past summer. She investigated marten (M. americana and M. caurina) population distribution via DNA analysis.

Seven Barry MARC U*STAR (Minority Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Student Training in Academic Research) and MBRS RISE students were among the 3,300 attendees and presented six of the 1,400 poster presentations. Students were mentored by Dr. Bingham and Dr. Redway of the biology department.
