Barry University hires new Crime Prevention Coordinator

MIAMI SHORES, Florida - Barry University's Public Safety Department has hired Elizabeth Talatinian as BU's new Crime Prevention Coordinator.

Talatinian, a resident of Ft. Lauderdale, was hired at the end of last year in an effort to help the community become more aware of crimes that could affect them. As the new Crime Prevention Coordinator Talatinian "would like to make the Barry community more aware of their surroundings and educate them on issues that surround them every day," Talatinian said.

Talatinian originally from Boston, holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Sculpting from Massachusetts College of Art.

Before joining the Barry community Talatinian spent twenty-five years in the aviation industry and says that she has "always been security minded."

One of her goals is to educate students, many of whom are living away from home, about issues that could possibly affect their safety.

The Crime Prevention office will be hosting weekly classes throughout the academic year, but the office will also be customizing these classes to meet the specific needs of the Barry community throughout the year.
