Barry University sponsors NBC6 Neighborhood
WeatherNet
In September of this year, Barry University became the sole sponsor,
for the next three years, of the NBC6 Neighborhood WeatherNet.
From the Barry University WeatherNet station located in Garner,
real-time local and national weather is now brought directly into
south Florida homes. Information on weather conditions and forecasts
can also be accessed from the Barry University WeatherNet station
via WeatherBug, the Web's top weather-affiliated information site.
To promote this service to our community, Sr. Jeanne O'Laughlin
and NBC6 Chief Meteorologist, Roland Steadham, were filmed recently
right here on location at Barry talking about the benefits of the
Neighborhood WeatherNet. These spots can be seen on NBC6 during
the weather report.
A new feature of the WeatherNet program is the WeatherNet Classroom,
an interactive tool that seamlessly integrates real-time local
and national weather data and camera images into a range of science
and math lessons for elementary, middle, and high schools. To familiarize
teachers with this new feature and to celebrate Barry's partnership
with the WeatherNet program, Barry University was selected to host
WeatherFest on December 2, here on the Barry campus. Some 100 teachers
from WeatherNet affiliated schools have been invited to participate
in WeatherFest. This will be an opportunity for teachers to learn
more about the WeatherNet Classroom as well as see our beautiful
campus.
