Barry University’s Graduate Program in Special Education was recently named among the best in the nation according to Graduate Programs Spring 2015 Rankings of the Top Special Education Graduate Programs according to students and alumni reviews. Barry earned a top–10 ranking with the No. 4 spot on the list.
The spring 2015 ranking was produced by enumerating the best graduate programs in the country based solely on ratings and reviews from current or recent graduate students posted on graduateprograms.com. Program rankings, compiled using data gathered between September 1, 2012 and March 31, 2015, encompass reviews posted by more than 70,000 students participating in over 1,600 graduate programs nationwide.
For a given graduate program, rankings are determined by calculating the average score for each program based on 15 ranking categories. These scores are then compared across all ranked schools for that program and are translated into a final ranking for that graduate program, i.e., “business and management”. A given graduate program is not ranked until a minimum threshold of graduate student surveys is completed for that program.
Barry earned an overall score of 9.35, trailing only the University of Pittsburgh (9.73), the University of Illinois (9.71), and Vanderbilt University (9.60). Barry’s 9.35 score was a full 1.09 points higher than the average of all schools in the Top 25.
