NORTH MIAMI, Fla. -- Barry University men's and women's tennis teams participated in a community service event Sunday at San Souci Tennis Facility.

The Buccaneers men's and women's teams offered tennis instruction to kids as part of the North Miami-Dade Free Kids Tennis Festival.

It was the second free tennis day the Buccaneers have offered to local kids since November.

"It was a good turnout," Barry assistant men's coach Thomas Hipp said. "We had over 30 kids there. It's great to interact with the community, and encourage kids to play our great sport of tennis."

Low-pressure balls were used for kids 10-under on 36- to 60-feet courts. Kids 11 and older particpated on regular-sized courts.

"It was a great way to give back to our community," Barry women's assistant coach Maria Lopez said. "Barry tennis cares about the kids in the area."
