Mokrzycki Named SSC Men's Tennis Player of Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry senior Marco Mokrzycki has again been selected Sunshine State Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC. He has won the award four times this season.

Mokrzycki (Hannover, Germany) won three No. 1 doubles victories and a No. 1 singles win over the No. 2-ranked player in Division II, as the No. 2 Buccaneers improved to 20-0 with three wins over Top 25 opponents in Austin, Texas. In a 9-0 sweep over No. 5 Hawaii Pacific, Mokrzycki, who is ranked No. 4 in the country, dispatched No. 2 Petr Michnev, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. He also joined Fabian Groetsch, with whom he forms the No. 2 doubles duo in the nation, for an 8-4 upset over No. 10 Michnev and Gerald Moretti. In an 8-1 victory over No. 13 Grand Canyon, Mokrzycki and Groetsch defeated Ahmad Saleem and Arjun Bal, 8-3. The duo was also victorious in a 9-0 sweep over No. 25 St. Edward's, racing past Felix Bake and Pedro Bronstrup, 8-3.

Mokrzycki is 10-2 in singles and 15-2 in doubles this year.
