Women's Golf Finishes 4th at SSC Championships

DADE CITY, Fla. -- Daniela Murray shot a 1-over 73 in the final round of the Sunshine State Conference Championships, Taylor Babcock finished fourth individually, and Barry University placed fourth as a team.

The No. 6-ranked Buccaneers shot 309 in the final round, finishing with a three-day, 54-hole total of 919 on the 6,140-yard Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club. Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern tied after the final hole, both shooting 906. Florida Southern won the five-player tiebreaker.

Lynn finished third, five strokes ahead of the Bucs.

Murray had three birdies in the final round, moving up six spots on the leaderboard on the final day. Babcock put together her best tournament of the season, finishing at 9-over 225. Securing her first top-5 finish of the season, Babcock birdied the 325-yard third hole in the final round to finish with seven for the tournament. Murray had six birdies in the tournament.

Nova Southeastern's Lilianna Cammisa won the tournament, shooting par in the final round to finish at 7-over 223. Lynn's Jessica Bradley and Florida Southern's Barbara Vejlupkova tied for second, a stroke ahead of Babcock.

Barry's Nancy Vergara finished in a three-way tie for 19th in the 44-player event, shooting 235 in the 54 holes. Teammate Maria Paola Fiorio was 22nd, following her second straight 79 in the final round. She finished a stroke behind Vergara's group. Fiorio had two birdies Tuesday.

Nicky Ferre used two birdies to shoot 79 in the third round and finish 28th.

In every round of the league tournament, Barry had at least four players shoot in the 70s.

The Bucs will await their postseason fate when the NCAA South Regional pairings are announced Monday, April 29.
