MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team fell to Palm Beach Atlantic University Saturday night at Feinbloom field in a rescheduled game from late April, 14-11.

The Bucs (28-19) head into a difficult stretch to end the regular season playing four games in three days in hopes of extending the season with a regional bid.

Luis Arrizurieta put Barry ahead in the first with a two-run blast over the left field wall but the Sailfish(28-21) answered with a pair of runs in the second and an eight-run rally in the third to take control of the game.

Barry continued to battle, scoring three runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth. Freshman J.C. Cardenas delivered his first career homer while Joe Iorio added to the offensive outburst with his fifth long-ball of the season but it wasn’t enough on this night as Palm Beach pushed across 14 runs on 20 hits.

Tyler Kellmann continued to swing a hot stick with a pair of hits. Iorio, Michael Diaz and Arrizurieta also finished with multiple hits on the night.

The Bucs look to bounce back Sunday when they’ll travel to St. Petersburg to battle the Tritons of Eckerd College.

Sunday’s doubleheader begins at 5 p.m. and the series finale is slated for Monday at 6 p.m. Live-stat and video broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
