WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry University's Isabela Miro and Karina Goia won the Varner Invitational Flight A doubles championship Sunday at Rollins College.
Miro and Goia beat Buccaneer teammates Elisabeth Abanda and Kimmy Twelker, 8-4, in the finals.
Twelker won the Flight B singles title when Lynn's Andrea Berkova withdrew.
Abanda fell short in the Flight A singles championship, losing to Bethune-Cookman's Mina Matsuba, 6-4, 6-3.
Goia was a walkover 6-0, 6-1 winner over Flagler's Kelly Stewart in the Flight A consolation finals match.
At Clemson's Duckworth Family Classic, Barry's Emma Onila lost to Virginia Commonwealth's Cindy Chala, 6-2, 6-0, in the Flight 1 finals.
In the Flight 2 third-fourth place match, Barry's Linda Fritschken lost to Armstrong Atlantic's Clara Perez, 6-1, 6-7 (11-9).
In the Flight 3 consolation finals, Barry's Cristina Valladares lost Audrey Coventry of Wofford, 6-0, 6-4.
In the Flight 5 consolation final, Barry newcomer Maria Reis beat VCU's Olga Tarteac, 6-0, 7-6 (3).
Barry will compete in the Miami Fall Invitational next weekend in Coral Gables.
