Nkomo and Rogers Sweep Women's Soccer Players of the Week

WINTER PARK, Fla. – Barry’s Lavinia Nkomo and Becca Rogers have been selected Sunshine State Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week presented by VALIC.

 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Barry sophomore midfielder Lavinia Nkomo figured in both game-winning goals for the Buccaneers last week to move into sole possession of first place in the SSC. Against Nova Southeastern, Nkomo assisted on the game-winner in the 12th minute in a 2-0 victory. On Saturday at Rollins, Nkomo scored the game’s only goal in the 59th minute to give Barry a 1-0 victory over the No. 14 Tars.

 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – Barry junior keeper Becca Rogers recorded her fourth and fifth shutouts of the season to lead the Buccaneers to their first 3-0 start in SSC action since 2004. In a 2-0 victory over Nova Southeastern, Rogers faced 12 shots and made two saves. On Saturday in Winter Park, the junior recorded eight saves against the No. 14 Tars to come away with a 1-0 win.
