HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. -- Barry University's Nico Cavero shot a 6-under 138 in the first two rounds of the Dave Adamonis Sr. Invitational Monday at Westin Diplomat Golf Resort to take a one-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round.
Cavero, a sophomore from Doral, Fla., shot 67-71 on the par 72 course. He leads tournament host Johnson & Wales' Damon Salo, who shot 72-67 -- 139, and College of Coastal Georgia's Chase Miller, who carded a 69-71 -- 140, at the top of the leaderboard. Two others are tied for fourth at 1-under par 143 in the 76-player field.
The Buccaneers are not competing as a team in the event.
Barry's Berry Jole is tied for 17th, following his 4-over 148. Scott Smyers is in an eight-way tie for 28th at 152 after shooting back-to-back 76s. Bucs teammates John Yu and Patrick Murray are within a stroke of each other at 154 and 155, respectively.
