MIAMI, Fla. -- The Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) recently recognized the successes of Miami-area young professionals at its annual HYPE Awards presentation. Barry University alumnus and Alumni Board of Directors member Alex Hannett was among the winners earning the HPYE Rookie of the Year award.

Hannett is the manager of corporate strategy and marketing at All Florida Paper. He was chosen for the award after climbing the corporate ladder from a part-time marketing specialist to his current managerial position in just 10 months. Hannett now manages the brand, website, and overall marketing department for All Florida Paper.

Hannett’s managerial duties at All Florida Paper include marketing the company's vendors more effectively and pushing a variety of products to the market to help overall sales. Hannett’s marketing initiatives led to a substantial increase in sales in numerous All Florida Paper product lines over the last 12-month period. Most recently, Hannett was instrumental in designing All Florida Paper’s new industry-leading website. Other projects he has managed range from restructuring several parts of human resources and managing and protecting intellectual property, and managing the research and analysis of many of the company’s initiatives.

Hannett beat out three other nominees for the Rookie of the Year Award and was among four recipients to receive an award.

The GMCC HYPE Awards honor Miami-Dade’s rising stars who have individually demonstrated outstanding achievement and innovation. The HYPE Awards program was developed with the true young professional in mind. All nominees must be under the age of 35 and have lived, worked or attended a university or college in South Florida for at least two consecutive years.
