For over 40 years, Reverend Mary Ellen Cassini’s love for the written word, passion for teaching, and the opportunity to minister in a variety of educational and ecclesial settings have been important elements of her life in service to others. After teaching high school English, history, and drama for 20 years, Rev. Cassini became Head of the Middle School at Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton. She was ordained a deacon in 2006 and a priest in 2008 in the Episcopal Diocese of Southeast Florida, and in 2010 she was awarded a Doctorate of Ministry degree in Practical Theology from Barry University.
Rev. Cassini has also served as the Associate Rector at Saint Mark’s Church and School in Fort Lauderdale, and as interim Head of School at Saint Christopher’s Montessori School on Key Biscayne. Currently, she also teaches in the Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics departments and is a member of the Administrative Leadership team at Palmer Trinity School. She remains actively involved on the staff and in worship at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral in downtown Miami.
A Miami native, she has been married to Charles Cassini, a retired Barry professor for 38 years. Their two sons are also Barry alumni. Reverend Cassini also holds a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in English literature from Barry University.
