Joseph “Joe” Fernández ‘94
Joseph Fernández is president of the Florida region of BNY Mellon Wealth Management. In this role, he provides direct leadership for the region's investment management, client service, and sales and support personnel.
Mr. Fernández has 28 years of investment and finance experience, including 18 years at BNY Mellon. Prior to his current role, he was president – Florida East and managing director for portfolio management in Florida, overseeing investment personnel across the state. Before that, he was a senior director and head of the Miami office. Additionally, Joe previously held the post of director of strategic planning for the wealth management division, overseeing strategic initiatives globally, including mergers and acquisitions for the division. He began his career at the firm as a vice president and portfolio manager in the Miami office. Prior to his tenure with BNY Mellon, Mr. Fernández held several management positions for wealth management firms and international banking organizations. He is a member of the BNY Mellon Asset Management Operating Committee and the BNY Mellon Wealth Management Operating Committee.
Mr. Fernández received his bachelor's degree in accounting from Barry University. He earned his certificate in Personal Financial Planning from Florida State University. He is a CFP™ professional and was a member of the inaugural class of The Partnership's Next Generation Executive program at Harvard Business School.
Mr. Fernández currently serves as a trustee Board Member of the Dranoff International 2 Piano Foundation, trustee of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, and trustee of The Miami Foundation where he has been appointed Chairman of the Development Committee.
