Dr. Laura Finley releases two new books

Dr. Laura Finley, associate professor of sociology and criminology in the College of Arts and Sciences, has released two new books.

The first, “Trumpism,” was edited by Finley and Matthew Johnson. The book is a collection of chapters in the “Peace Studies: Edges and Innovations” series published by Cambridge Scholars Press. Chapters in the book focus on how a man with such a long history of sexist and misogynist behavior could have prevailed over the Democratic challenger, Hillary Clinton. Contributors discuss the meaning of the Trump presidency for sexual assault survivors, women in science, parenting, teaching and more.

Gender, Sexuality and Peace Education: Issues and Perspectives in Higher Education,” also edited by Finley, includes timely and current perspectives from educators, activists and students seeking to promote more socially just campuses. Chapters focus on hot topics like the use of trigger warning, teaching about sex trafficking, using popular culture to address gender and sexuality issues and more.

"Both of these books focus on some of today's most critically important issues<” says Finley. “From politics to the classroom, communities to families, the issues of gender and sexuality that are explored in these edited volumes help readers grapple, analyze, understand, synthesize and get involved."

Both books are available on Amazon.
