Barry University Becomes the First South Florida Student Chapter of the FPRA

Barry University has become the newest student chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) and the first in South Florida. On April 23rd faculty and students of the Department of Communication welcomed the FPRA leadership to celebrate the chartering ceremony of the Barry U Student Chapter. The ceremony was held virtually after the planned in-person celebration was canceled to fulfill social distancing requirements from the Centers for Disease Control and the Governor’s Safer at Home Order.

The Florida Public Relations Association is dedicated to developing public relations practitioners through ethical and standardized practices that enhance the Public Relations profession in Florida. The organization’s 15 professional and 13 student chapters provide professional development, networking, and recognition opportunities for nearly 1,200 members across the state, and scholarship opportunities and career resources for our student members.

Barry University students with active FPRA membership will now have the opportunity to obtain the Certificate in Principles of Public Relations designed to demonstrate a fundamental level of knowledge for graduates entering the public relations profession and related fields.
