WINTER PARK, Fla. – Barry University’s baseball team is playing some of its best baseball thus far this spring and as a result the Bucs have won eight straight and earned their second Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week Award.

Barry sophomore OF/1B Sheehan Planas-Arteaga (Miami, Fla.) led the Buccaneers to a 3-0 weekly record, batting .667 with seven runs and seven RBI. Planas-Arteaga had multiple hits in each game and tallied three hits in two of them. He also had one extra-base hit in each contest, belting two doubles and one home run en route to a 1.083 slugging percentage. His home run, which came in the sixth inning of the Buccaneers’ first game against the University of the Sciences, tied the score at 4-4. The Bucs would go on to win 9-5. Planas-Arteaga recorded a .692 OPB in three outings.

Barry returns to action Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Adelphi before heading to Lakeland, Fla. for a three game SSC showdown with Florida Southern beginning on Friday.
