Baseball Adds Three To ABCA-Rawlings All-South Region Team

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- A trio of Buccaneers were named to the ABCA/Rawlings All-South Region Team as Adrian English earned first-team honors while Sheehan Planas-Arteaga and Tyler Kellmann each earned second-team selections.

The honor is English’s fourth first-team selection this season after being named All-Sunshine State Conference as well as All-Region by Daktronics and the NCBWA earlier this month.

English burst onto the scene hitting .330 as a freshman. After struggling at times during his sophomore campaign, English returned stronger and determined as a junior this spring in route to a .392 batting average this season making him one of the most efficient hitters in all of Division II.

Kellmann also made his presence felt after coming to Barry from Lake Sumter Community College. The lefty hitter played both corner positions and finished with 23 RBI in 24 Sunshine State Conference games.

After moving into the leadoff spot in the lineup a third of the way into the season, Planas-Arteaga’s excellent pitch selection combined with  a mix of power helped him develop into one of the most dangerous leadoff hitters in the South Region. Planas-Arteaga’s .367 batting average was second on the team behind English while his .477 on-base-percentage led the Buccaneers.
