MIAMI, Fla. – Barry University’s women’s basketball team picked up their first win of the season with a 93-32 rout of Florida Memorial Friday night.

Tyler Hardy led the Bucs with 21 points and Colette Eule added 17 points to set the pace offensively, and Barry shot 53 percent from the field as a team.

Barry (1-2) dominated the game from the start as they outscored the Lions 41-11 in the first half with an efficient and well balanced attack. The Bucs also controlled the battle of the boards 57-28 including a 19-5 edge on offensive rebounds.

Florida Memorial (0-3) had no answer for the Buccaneers on either end of the court. The Lions struggled to score all night and were held to just 12 percent from the field for the entire game. The majority of the Lions’ offense came at the free-throw line where they scored 18 of their 32 points.

Kaylia Richardson and Emily Shahczinski each chipped in 11 points and Ines Kerin added scored 9 points with three baskets from beyond the arc to add depth to the Buccaneers’ scoring attack.

The Buccaneers return to action on Thursday when they host Puerto Rico- Mayaguez at the Health and Sports Center. Live-stat and video broadcast will be available through the Barry University athletics website, GOBARRYBUCS.COM.
