Women's Basketball Nips Panthers To Even SSC Mark

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers (11-6, 4-4 SSC) evened their Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball record with a 60-56 win over the Florida Tech Panthers in the Health & Sports Center on Wednesday night.

The Bucs trailed by four points at the break, 31-27. But Barry tied the score at 36-36 at the 14:42 mark of the second period on a layup by Tyler Hardy and then held the Panthers (13-7, 4-4 SSC) scoreless over the next five minutes to build an eight-point lead, 44-36.

The Bucs still led by eight, 55-47, at the 3:32 mark. The Panthers rallied to knot the game at 56-56 with 0:18 seconds to play, but Kaylia Richardson and Hardy sank two free throws each in the last 0:17 seconds and Hardy got a huge rebound on a miss by Kayk Wilson that sealed the win for the Bucs.

Hardy led Barry with 21 points and 13 rebounds, her sixth double-double of the season. Richardson chipped in 17 points and Eule, who was held scoreless in the first half, added 10. Ida Gustafsson and Wilson each had 14 for the Panthers, while Sandra Acevedo had 10 points and 10 boards. Tiesha Flagler had 16 rebounds for Tech.

The Bucs play on Saturday at the Martinez Center in Tampa, Fla., against the Spartans. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm.
