Alexandria Fernander led the Buccaneers to a pair of wins to open Sunshine State Conference play. She had 11 points and 11 rebounds in a 66-49 win over Eckerd on the road and returned home for 18 points and 12 rebounds in a 61-54 win over Tampa. For the week, she averaged 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, recording double-doubles in both games and six of her last seven. She shot 44.4 percent from the field and 62.5 percent from the free throw line.
Felipe Barrios led the Buccaneers to a pair of conference wins, as Barry opened SSC play 2-0 for the first time in program history. On Wednesday, he buried four consecutive three-pointers to rally the Bucs from a 31-20 halftime deficit and lift them to a 55-52 win at #16 Eckerd. Barrios finished with a game-high 17 points and a team-best five rebounds. Three days later, Barrios added a game-high 18 points and snared a team-high six boards to lift Barry to a 60-55 win over Tampa. In two games, Barrios averaged 17.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 48% from the field, including a sizzling 73% (8-of-11) from three-point range.
