Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, Student Services, & Special Events
Alison Fitzgerald joined the Barry University athletic department staff in 2010 as the Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance, Student Services, and Special Events at Barry University.
Fitzgerald brings a wealth of experience to the Buccaneer Athletic Department having served in various roles in collegiate athletics since 2007. Fitzgerald was named the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Services at Illinois-Springfield in June 2008. She was intricate in helping the department move from NAIA to NCAA Division II. In her position, she was responsible for evaluating student-athlete eligibility. In addition, she served as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) advisor and the department’s Senior Woman Administrator (SWA).
Fitzgerald, a native of Madison, Wis., graduated from the University of Wisconsin in May, 2005 with a bachelor of arts in legal studies. In May 2008, Fitzgerald earned her Juris Doctorate from Marquette University. She was sworn in on May 19, 2008 and is a member of the Wisconsin Bar.
Prior to Illinois-Springfield, Fitzgerald served as a compliance intern at the University of Wisconsin Parkside and Marquette University. Among other compliance responsibilities, she was accountable for reviewing and updating squad lists and financial awards, evaluating transcripts, and preparing National Letter of Intent packages. She also served as an intern for the NCAA’s Office of Government Relations in Washington D.C. from May 2007 to August 2007. While at the office of government relations, Fitzgerald tracked legislation and wrote reports on issues affecting college students, attended Title IX hearings, and researched specific issues related to collegiate sports such as athlete-agent relations and gambling issues.
