WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Barry University women’s soccer team (3-3-0, 0-1-0) fell 4-0 to the Rollins Tars in their first conference match of the season on Saturday afternoon in Winter Park, Fla.

A foul from the Buccaneers cost them the first goal in the 13th minute. Rollins’ Lindsay Giblin scored her seventh goal of the season from the penalty kick to put the Bucs down 1-0, where they remained through the first period.

In the 57th minute, Giblin played the ball up to the penalty area just in time for Jessica Deese to cut and shoot for the Tars’ second goal.

Barry still had over 30 minutes to make a come back but the Rollins’ defense was unstoppable as they out-shot the Bucs 33-9.  With less than nine minutes reamining in the game, Rollins’ Marie Sapper had a short pass to Kelsey Kimmel who crossed the ball in for Giblin to head the ball into the goal to put the Bucs down 3-0.

Three minutes later, Rollins’ Leah Hirsch had an incredible long ball through to Chelsea Brady who was able to beat the Bucs’ keeper Kelly Tryson to the near post.  The Tars closed out the game with a final score of 4-0.

Barry will return home to host Nova Southeastern for their second conference match on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 4:30 pm.
