JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The Barry University women’s soccer team (3-5-0, 0-2-0) suffered their third consecutive loss when they fell to the West Florida Argos 6-0 on Sunday afternoon at Patton Park.

The Argos were up 3-0 in the first 30 minutes of the game with goals by West Florida’s Jodi Galucci, Anastasia Prescott and Lura Carter. Before the first period ended, Galucci added another goal and Kristin Rhodes also scored to put the Bucs down 5-0 at the half.

In the second period, the Bucs improved their defense and their possession of the ball. Bucs keeper junior Kelly Tryson came in to replace freshman Sami Cromartie in hopes that experience would prevent a shut out. Although Tryson and the defensive line worked well together to keep the ball away but Dernelle Mascall, the Argos’ lead scorer, scored against the Bucs in the last five minutes of the game.

Cromartie (2-3) took the loss for the Bucs and Argos keeper Courtney Jones (5-2) picked up the win.

Barry will return home and travel to Lantana, Fla. to face Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 7:00pm.
