MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – After winning two in a row to start the weekend, the Barry University volleyball team (8-11, 2-3 SSC) dropped their final weekend match 3-0 to the ninth-ranked Florida Southern Moccasins on Sunday at the Health & Sports Center. The Buccaneers dropped all three games 30-21, 30-22, and 30-18.
The Moccasins hit a .366 team percentage in the first game followed by a .229 team percentage in game two for an early two-game advantage. However, they hit a blistering .538 clip in the final game to take the match.
Florida Southern (14-6, 3-3 SSC) finished the match with a .363 team hitting percentage to the Buccaneers’ .043 team percentage. Danielle Durham led the Mocs with 11 kills and hit a blistering .625 clip. Beverly Stasis added 10 kills and 14 digs for the double-double and Daryl Baby collected 11 digs. Elise Burke dished out 36 assists.
Maria Romanowski hit a blazing .778 clip with seven kills on nine attempts and added 23 assists, while Stefanie Sveiven was the Bucs’ kill leader with eight. Lauren Evans recorded a match-high 15 digs, while Julie Priester added 10.
The Buccaneers will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 6 in St. Petersburg, Fla. taking on the Eckerd Tritons in Sunshine State Conference action at 4 pm.
