Rowing at Hatter Classic
DELAND, Fla. – The Barry University women’s rowing team set sail to the season in Deland, Fla. at the Hatter Classic against involving Stetson University, University of Central Florida and Nova Southeastern University.
 
The Varsity  4 boat (Lisa Frandy, coxswain; Robin Cascioli, Janelle Cross, Rebecca Evans, Elise Carlson) finished with a time of 19:00.8 just one second shy behind the victorious Stetson’s time of 18:59.7. Nova Southeastern finished third at 19:01.6 with UCF finishing at 23:48.3. Conditions seemed perfect for the race up until the last 1000 meters as a slight head wind picked up. 
 
The headwind continued to increase as the Varsity 8 boats lined up for their race. Barry’s Varsity 8 boat (Lisa Frandy, coxswain; Robin Cascioli, Janelle Cross, Rebecca Evans, Elise Carlson, Summerlin Knipe, VanCheska Koch, Becky Gay, Tara O’Neill) finished third with a time of 18:35.7. UCF took the victory with a 18:23.8 time and Nova Southeastern finished second at 18:25.4. Stetson finished last with an 18:41.2 time. 
 
The Bucs row again on Nov.  10 at the Florida Fall Classic in Fellsmere, Fla.
