MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The Barry University men’s basketball team picked up their second victory of the season with an 82-41 victory over the Puerto Rico-Cayey Torritos at the Health & Sport Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Bucs played a very consistent game against the Torritos as they scored 38 points in the first and finished with 44 in the second period. Barry entered the second half with a 20-point lead on which they continued to improve and finish with Jeran Morris’ jumper to close out the game 41 points over PR-Cayey.
Records were in the making as sophomore Chad Bishop earned a career and game-high 20 points and Karega Tucker tallied his own career-high 19 points. Tucker was also one rebound shy of his second double-double with the Bucs. Freshmen Willie Whitfield and Chris Uz also posted career-highs with 14 and 12 points respectively.
The Buccaneers improved to their best field goal percentage of the season at 54.2 and were also 38.5 percent from the three. In the first half, Bishop sank two of three attempted treys to help lead the Bucs.
Barry will travel to West Palm Beach on Wednesday, Nov. 28 to face the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at 7:00 pm.
