MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Lynn Fighting Knights scored the final 10 points of the game to defeat the Barry Buccaneers 53-48 in Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball action Wednesday night in the Health & Sports Center.
The Buccaneers (11-3, 2-1 SSC) led 48-43 with 4:27 after Kia Palmer hit a pair of free throws. But the Bucs missed their final nine shots from the field and the Knights scored 10 unanswered points to earn the win on the road. Liz Roth’s layup with 2:39 remaining put the Knights up for good.
Roth led all scorers with 17 points, while teammate Rachel Brockman added 14. The Knight backcourt of Jade Williams and Crystal Ahmed combined to shot just two for 21, but also grabbed 21 rebounds as the Knights held a 49-39 edge on the glass. Christina Thomas was the only Buccaneer in double figures with 13 points.
The Bucs host the Florida Southern Moccasins on Saturday, Jan. 12 at 2:00 pm.
