TAMPA, Fla. – The Barry University men’s basketball team (6-11, 0-5 SSC) continued to struggle against Sunshine State Conference opponents, falling 57-41 to the Tampa Spartans (10-4, 4-2 SSC) on Saturday.
The Bucs started the contest off slow, shooting 6-of-26 from the field in the first half while the Spartans were 11-of-26, including 6-of-15 from behind the arc.
Sophomore Martin Leibovich made the most of his first start as a Buccaneer leading the squad with eight points and adding two assists. Senior Jeff Willis had a strong outing, notching seven points and grabbing a career-high 12 rebounds.
Seniors Jeremy Black and Chris King scored 17 points each to lead Tampa.
The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday, January 23rd when they play host to Rollins in a SSC match-up. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
