DAVIE, Fla.— Princess Bailey’s game-high 14 points was not enough for the Barry Buccaneers as they dropped a Sunshine State Conference women’s basketball road game 61-46 to the Nova Southeastern Sharks on Wednesday at the NSU University Center.

Up 10 points at the half, 27-17, the Sharks stretched the lead to as many as 21 before settling for the 15-point win.

Christina Thompson added 10 for Barry (13-6, 4-4 SSC), while Stephanie Sarosi paced the Sharks (14-5, 7-1 SSC) with 11 points and LaShawnna Edwards added 10.

The Sharks out-shot the Bucs 47.4 percent to 33.3 percent from the field and held a 40-30 edge on the boards.

The Bucs got the game started right and led 15-12 after Princess Bailey’s layup with 9:54 left in the half. But the Bucs managed only two points the rest of the way, a layup by Alex Henri at the 5:00 minute mark, and the Sharks took a 27-15 lead into the locker room.

Barry travels to Melbourne, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 2 to face the Panthers of Florida Tech.
