MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Down 41-38 with 3:42 remaining in the contest, junior Christina Thompson nailed a three-pointer which proved to be the game-winner in the Buccaneers (15-6, 6-4 SSC) 48-45 victory over Eckerd (14-7, 4-6 SSC).
Thompson propelled Barry with 17 points and nine rebounds in a heavily defensive match-up. Both squads did not allow much room for shooting in the low scoring game.
The Buccaneers headed into the second-half down by four 25-21 but stormed back in the second half to take a 36-29 lead early on. The Tritons battled and took a two-point lead on a Jennifer Kinney three-pointer with 4:28 remaining. Thompson responded with a three-pointer of her own which squashed the Tritons hope for a road victory at the Health & Sports Center.
Olivia Nagle (12), Ashley Lutz (11) and Jennifer Kinney (11) paced the Triton offense. Nagle registered the double-double with 10 rebounds.
Barry will be on the road this weekend as they travel to Lakeland to take on Florida Southern on Saturday, Feb. 9th. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm.
