BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Barry University men’s basketball team (6-18, 0-12 SSC) dropped another Sunshine State Conference match-up on the road, this time 67-45 to the Lynn Fighting Knights (13-10, 6-6 SSC) on Wednesday night at the de Hoernle Center.
Bryan Chiverton matched his season high 11 points to lead the Buccaneers offensively, while Willie Whitfield finished with a game-high eight rebounds.
After struggling offensively in the first half, the Buccaneers managed to keep the scoring close in the second half, but were still outscored by the Knights 30-28. Lynn hit 28 of 54 field goal attempts in the game for a 51.9 field goal percentage. Barry shot just 31.9 percent (15-47) for the game.
Ed Millard led the Fighting Knights with 19 points, while Randy Jones followed with 14. Hall finished with 13 points and five rebounds and Hans Schur added 11 points and six rebounds. Luke Postorino dished out nine assists
Lynn exploded for a 21-4 run to open the first 6:58 minutes of the first half and finally headed into the locker room with a 37-17 lead at the break. The Knight’s Hall and Jones both connected on three of four three-point attempts to lead Lynn with nine points each at the half.
The Buccaneers will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 16 hosting the Tampa Spartans for homecoming at 4 pm in the Health & Sports Center.
