MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers defeated the Northwood Seahawks 8-1 in women’s tennis action on Friday at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
The Bucs (4-1) captured all three doubles. Ildiko Csordas and Angie Werschel defeated Mika Seger and Fiorella Moggia 8-2 at number one. The Bucs took two and three doubles 8-1 with Caroline Stevens and Helen Wisniewski taking down Alejandra Ripoll and Adriana Herran and Saskia Kruse and Julie Cadet beating Michelle Aybar and Didi Jurman.
In singles, the Bucs rested Csordas and everyone moved up the ladder. Werschel knocked off Seger 6-3, 6-4 at number one. Wisniewski handled Moggia 6-0, 6-4 at number two and Berit Peterson made it 6-0 Barry with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Ripoll at number three.
The Seahawks (0-3) picked up their only point at number four singles with Herran beating Olivia Lilien 6-3, 6-2. Laime Contreras and Kruse closed out the score winning at five and six.
The Bucs take on the Tampa Spartans on Saturday, Feb. 23 at 10:00 am at the Buccaneer Tennis Center.
