ATLANTA, Ga. – The Barry University softball team (21-2) matched the school’s longest win streak taking their 20th consecutive game this season with a 14-0 romping over the Stillman Tigers (6-5) on Friday night in five innings at the Southeast Athletics Complex.

Freshman Jessica Bevlin tossed her first career no-hitter and struck out a career-high 12 batters to improve to 3-0 in the circle. Ashley Likens drove in four runs which included a two-run inside the park home run, while Shyla Rider drove in and scored three runs. Megan Young went 3-for-3 at the plate and collected two RBI to help pace the Buccaneers’ explosive offensive efforts.

The Buccaneers scored three runs in the first for an early 3-0 lead, but erupted for nine runs in the next two innings for a 12-0 lead after three innings of play. After a Katie Turecki single in the fourth to load the bases, Rider had an RBI sacrifice fly and Julia Chongarlides recorded an RBI single to put the game out of reach for the 14-0 shutout.

Barry scattered 15 hits over four innings on Stillman pitcher Robyn Beattie (6-5). She finished with 14 earned runs and walked four in the Tiger loss.

The Buccaneers will return to action on Saturday with three games to wrap up a 10-day spring road trip. Barry will face Paine at 9 am followed by West Alabama at 11 am and Fort Valley State at 1 pm.
