Baseball Pounds Tritons To Open Conference Series

MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry Buccaneers pounded the Eckerd Tritons 18-2 at Feinbloom Field on Friday night to open a Sunshine State Conference baseball series.
 
The Bucs (24-10, 6-4 SSC) pounded out 15 hits, including five doubles and four homers, to score 18 runs off the Tritons (12-24, 2-11 SSC).
 
Andrew Frezza led the Bucs with three hits and six RBI. Nick Shaw also had three hits, while Mitch Rodriguez and John Servidio each score three. Rodriguez, Chris Leon, Frezza and Servidio all homered as the Bucs hit a season-high four. Jeff Bromley led the Tritons with two hits.
 
Bobby Hernandez ran his record to 4-0 with seven innings of five hit ball. He allowed two unearned runs and struck out six without walking a batter. Aaron Main finished off the game with one walk in two hitless innings in relief of Hernandez. Philip Weylie (5-3) took the loss for Eckerd. He work four innings, allowing 10 runs on 11 hits and four walks, while striking out two.
 
The teams play a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 5 at noon to finish the series.
