DAVIE, Fla. – Barry University Baseball (27-10) picked up a 7-2 nonconference victory over Nova Southeastern (22-15) at the NSU Sports Complex on Wednesday evening. The game was originally schedule for the day before but was postponed due to weather. The victory marked the 12th victory for the Buccaneers in the past 13 contests.

The Buccaneers jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first as John Servidio drove in Evan Ashley and Andrew Frezza on a one out double to center field.

The Sharks responded quickly with two runs of their own on a two run homerun by Pete Simon in the bottom of the second.

In the sixth, Brett Rossi drove in two runs on a single to shallow center field and Nick Shaw followed up by driving in Rossi in similar fashion as the Buccaneers gained the 5-2 advantage.

Carlos Gomez added another run in the seventh driving in Servidio from third on a base hit to center. The Buccaneers also showed some speed on the base paths as Servidio, Gomez and Manny Perdozo all stole bases.

Perdozo added an insurance run in the top of the ninth with a blast to right centerfield which barely missed making it over the wall. The result was a stand up RBI double. He finished the contest going 3-for-4 at the plate with a RBI. Rossi and Servidio added two RBI each.

The Barry pitching staff proved to be too much for the Sharks as they were limited to only five hits on the night.  Bobby Riley (1-0) earned the starting the nod for the contest and pitched three solid innings against Nova. He allowed three hits and two earned runs.
In relief, Aaron Main (7-2) earned the win giving up only one hit in four innings of relief. He struck out two and walked none.

Zachary North was charged with the loss for the Sharks. He was tagged for three runs, all earned and four hits in 1 2/3 inning of work.

The Buccaneers return to action this weekend as they travel up the west coast to take on Saint Leo in a three-game series. The first game is scheduled for Friday night at 7:00 pm.
