Softball advances with a 4-0 Win Over Rollins in the South Regional

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Top-seeded Barry University (42-6) racked out 12 hits en route to a 4-0 victory over fifth seed Rollins College (39-15) in the eighth game of the NCAA Division II Softball South Regional Tournament.
 
Cristina DeTangle jumped started the Buccaneers to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning. After reaching on an infield single, DeTagle quickly jumped on the following pitch and stole second base. The next batter, Megan Young put the ball in play which was misplayed by the Rollins infield, allowing the speedy DeTagle to score. Young would make her way around the bases and score from third on a wild pitch.
 
Amber Jack continued her winnings ways picking up her second win of the tournament with a four hit shutout performance. Jack struck out seven with no walks to improve to 28-2 on the season.
 
Nicole Anderson took the loss for the Tars. She allowed four runs off of 12 hits with five strikeouts.
 
DeTagle went two-for-four at the plate with a run scored. Young followed with a three-for-four performance with a RBI. Holli Davis recorded another RBI for the Buccaneers. Shyla Rider and Natalie Heeley added a two hit performance as well.
 
Sherri Rabenold was the only Tar to get two hits off of Jack. Ingrid Schumacher and Lauren Starcher contributed a hit each.
 
The Buccaneers advance to face third seed Saint Leo at the 4:00 pm game on Friday, May 8th. The Tars will face second seed Alabama-Huntsville in the 1:30 pm game.
