DECATUR, Ala.—The Barry men’s soccer team won the 2008 “Battle of the Bucs” defeating Christian Brothers 2-0 at the Jack Allen Soccer Complex on Friday.

Mark Anderson gave Barry (5-0-0) all the offense they would need in the eighth minute converting a free kick from 25 yards.

The game stayed 1-0 until the 86th minute. Christian Brothers (2-2-1) pulled keeper Daniel Foster to try for the equalizer on a free kick of their own. But Samuel Fessehazion cleared the ball out to Sascha Koettig and Koettig played it forward to Ricardo Ramirez who out-raced Foster and the CBU defense to the empty net.

Devala Gorrick posted the shutout with five saves, while Ryan Alexander swept a header by Zach Tubinis off the line in the 52nd minute to preserve the goose egg. Foster had two saves for CBU.

The Bucs face off against Alabama-Huntsville on Sunday, Sept. 14 at 1:00 pm.
