MATCH TWO:

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.—The Barry University women’s volleyball team won its second match of the day on Saturday, beating Flagler (11-8) in straight sets.

In set one, the Bucs and Saints (11-8) seemed evenly matched through much of the game. At 17-17 though, the Buccaneers turned it on when Camilla Pagnan crushed three kills and Stefanie Sveiven served an ace. The Bucs won the set 25-19.

Set two played out in a similar fashion as the Bucs and Saints were even through 8-8. Two Meisje-Sable Burton kills and four Flagler mistakes gave the Bucs a four point lead at 12-8. Though the Saints got close at 19-17, they were unable to capitalize, and Barry closed out set two off of a Sveiven kill.

The Bucs easily won set three 25-19, combining for 17 kills. Julia RIdley, Lauren Evans, and Pagnan each added an ace as well.

Julie Priester had all 40 assists for the Buccaneers. Pagnan and Ridley combined for 24 kills, while Meisje-Sable had two blocks.

The Buccaneers return to action on Tuesday, Oct 7 against SSC rival, Lynn at 7:00 pm in the Health and Sports Center.
