Men's Soccer Loses Tough One to Nova Southeastern

DAVIE, Fla.—The Barry University men’s soccer team (9-2-0, 2-2-0 SSC) was upset by the Nova Southeastern Sharks on Wednesday night at the NSU Soccer Complex.

The Sharks (7-4-1, 1-2-0 SSC) scored first at 11:33 when Juan Gonzalez slipped the ball past Buccaneer keeper Devala Gorrick. Minutes later, however, Mark Kilpatrick evened it at 1-1 for the Bucs when he skirted the ball past Shark keeper Juan Vizcarrando.

Barry went up 2-1 at 23:51 when Sascha Koettig blasted the ball in from 25 yards out. Andres Perez got the assist when he poked the ball forward on a tackle.

In the second period Nova scored three times to go up 4-2. Two of these goals came in the three minutes.
Barry got close at 77:01 when Perez scored as the Sharks were unable to clear the ball from the box, but were unable to close out the Sharks, losing 4-3.

For the Buccaneers, Gorrick had two saves, while Vizcarrando had five for the Sharks. The Buccaneers return to action on Saturday, Oct 11 against Tampa at Buccaneer Field.
