MIAMI SHORES, Fla.— The Barry University volleyball team lost in four sets to # 10 Florida Southern (16-4, 6-1 SSC) on Saturday afternoon at the Health and Sports Center.
The Moccasins took set one 25-18 with the help of 15 Anna Greenwood kills and two aces apiece by Maggie Drumm and Danielle Durham.
The Buccaneers (8-5, 2-4 SSC) got even in the second set though, winning 22-25. At 8-8, the game was tied, and Florida Southern even got out to a 13-9 lead. Five Moccasins errors put Barry back in it with a 13-14 lead though. Camilla Pagnan and Meisje-Sable Burton finished out the set with six combined kills to give the Bucs a 22-25 win.
Sets three and four came right down to the wire with the Mocs winning set three 29-27, and set four 25-23 to take the match 3-1.
For the Buccaneers, Julie Priester had 22 assists and Libby Walter added 14. Lauren Evans had 19 digs, and the Buccaneer hitters combined for 46 kills. For Florida Southern, Elise Burke had 43 assists, and Danille Durham led all Moccasin hitters with 16 kills.
The Buccaneers return to action on Wednesday, Oct. 15 against Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras at 4:30 pm in the Health and Sports Center.
